About me and why I made this

My name is Brad. I decided to make this because I love barefoot shoes. I talk about them a lot to my friends, and I think they’re fantastic. The problem I’ve come across that I’d like to help other people with is, everyone who reviews these shoes are hardcore runners, or some super athlete. I am not. I definitely don’t look like one. I work out about an hour a day, but the rest of the time? The rest of the time, I’m working in the office, writing, reading my books, in general, mostly sitting. I’ve always preferred being barefoot, so my feet were pretty healthy when I found these.

My first experience with barefoot shoes were a shoe called Skinners. I’ve always called them sock-shoes. I felt awkward wearing them in public, but they were nice when I did need some sort of slip-on shoes that wasn’t in public. I ended up not wearing them very much though, from being too self conscious.

Then I found the Vibram five fingers a few years later. These were touting the health of barefoot shoes. But they looked.. silly. I applaud the people who wear them. Imagine not caring about walking into a grocery store wearing shoes that looked like gloves. Ultimately, they were like, $120, and I decided that barefoot shoes still looked too out there for me.

Finally, I found Xero shoes and now WHITIN. The thing I love about Xero shoes is they look like shoes. They are foot shaped and some definitely look out there, but finally I found shoes that looked like shoes but gave the benefits of walking barefoot.

That’s what made me decide to start this. People still have this conception that barefoot shoes look like gloves on your feet. I’d like to change that now that there are a bunch of different brands that actually look like shoes but can get your feet healthier.
